Resident Evil (Season 1) (2022) – Storyline:
Resident Evil (TV Series 2022): The story takes place over two timelines. The first of which involves 14 year old sisters Jade and Billie Wesker moving to New Raccoon City. They come to realise that their father may be concealing dark secrets that could destroy the world. The second timeline takes place over a decade in the future, where only 15 million humans remain, with over 6 billion animals and people being infected with the T-virus. It follows Jade, now thirty, in her efforts to survive in this world.

Based on the video game series of the same name by Capcom, it is the second television adaptation of the franchise after the animated miniseries Infinite Darkness, and the eighth live-action adaptation after the film series of the same name. The series take place in its own original universe but feature the games series storyline as its backstory and basis.
The series features an ensemble cast led by Lance Reddick as Albert Wesker, Ella Balinska and Adeline Rudolph as Wesker’s adopted children while Tamara Smart and Siena Agudong portrays their younger self, and Paola Núñez as Evelyn Marcus, James Marcus’s daughters. It alternate between two timelines, following Jade and Billie Wesker during their days in New Raccoon City where they discover their father’s and Umbrella Corporation’s dark secrets, and a decade in the future, where Jade tries to survive the end of world.
In 2019, Netflix began development with Constantin Film, the rightsholders who have previously produced the film series, as the production company involved, as well as Moonlighting Films, a production company which worked on Resident Evil: The Final Chapter (2016).

The trailer was not giving me good vibes nor hope and the series actually confirmed that. It’s awful, it’s the kind of Netflix new trend of series: poorly done, made to be watch quickly and forgotten twice as fast. There’s absolutely no intention of making something great. Between that and the Korean Casa del Pepel, Netflix Think Tank seems really short on original ideas….I’ve watched the first episode (so you thankfully don’t have to) & can safely say you should simply add this show to the list of other Netflix series which have been consigned to history & forgotten. Stuff like “Cursed” & “The Irregulars” etc. Commissioned by the streaming service (clearly hoping to capitalise off of the recognisable brand) to just fill their release slots & keep subscribers subscribed, in order to view something – ANYTHING – & your money rolling in every month. The quality obviously wasn’t even considered before the season went in to production. It’s all about profit.
This is painfully unimaginative, badly written, clichéd & hammy. Another sub-par installment to the franchise & a waste of the source material. A real shame, as this could’ve been a great sci-fi franchise but alas, the potential’s squandered. Can’t say I’m enthused about continuing.
